Pairing Sides and Drinks With Your BBQ Meats
Share
The right sides and drinks can turn a good BBQ into a great one. Here are some easy pairings that work with the kinds of meat we sell.
Chicken
- Sides – Coleslaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, or a simple green salad with lemon and herbs. Grilled corn and garlic bread are crowd-pleasers.
- Drinks – Crisp lager, pale ale, or a chilled rosé. For something non-alcoholic, lemonade or iced tea with mint.
Beef
- Sides – Creamed spinach, roasted potatoes, grilled asparagus, or a classic Caesar. A bold green salad with blue cheese works well with steak.
- Drinks – Red wine (e.g. Shiraz or Cabernet), stout, or a full-bodied ale. For a lighter option, iced coffee or sparkling water with lemon.
Lamb
- Sides – Minted peas, roast potatoes, Greek salad, or tzatziki with flatbread. Couscous or a grain salad also pair nicely.
- Drinks – Red wine (e.g. Grenache or Pinot Noir), or a hoppy IPA. Mint iced tea or lemonade for a refreshing non-alcoholic match.
Sausages and smallgoods
- Sides – Onions and peppers on the grill, mustard, bread rolls, and a simple slaw or potato bake. For chorizo, try crusty bread, olives, and a tomato salad.
- Drinks – Beer (lager or pale ale) is a classic. Cider works with pork and lamb sausages; a light red or rosé suits chorizo and beef & burgundy.
